QHS (Quality, Health & Safety) Manager

About the role

Reporting to the Operations Manager, the QHS Manager will lead the Quality and Health & Safety functions for APD. You will be responsible for the oversight and continuous improvement of our management systems, ensuring our processes and products meet regulatory requirements and industry standards.

This is a critical leadership role focused on fostering a culture of safety and quality across our factory, field, and office teams while ensuring compliance with ISO 9001 and NZ H&S WorkSafe Regulations

Key Responsibilities

  • System Certification: Support the business through ISO 9001 certification (target March 2026) and lead ongoing QMS improvements.
  • H&S Leadership: Lead the H&S Committee and manage the full Health & Safety remit across all departments.
  • Team Leadership: Lead, coach, and develop the QHS team, including 1-2 Quality Assurance Inspectors.
  • App Ownership: Act as the Subject Matter Expert (SME) and trainer for the TeamMate App, utilising its modules for document control, risk, and actions.
  • Compliance & Audit: Manage internal and external audit schedules and report status updates to the Senior Leadership Team.
  • Risk Management: Support the business in identifying, investigating, and mitigating risks and opportunities.

What will you bring:

  • Significant leadership experience in Quality Management and Health & Safety within manufacturing or engineering.
  • In-depth knowledge of ISO 9001 is required.
  • Recognised H&S qualification (NEBOSH or similar) and QA/Internal Auditing Certification.
  • High level of comfort with H&S/Quality software; experience with the TeamMate App is a significant plus.
  • Excellent relationship management skills with the ability to influence decision-makers and engage stakeholders at all levels.
  • A solutions-focused, resilient professional with a high standard of accuracy, integrity, and accountability.

Account Manager – Specification

Location: Auckland, with National Responsibility

We are seeking a high-calibre professional to join our team in a pivotal role that demands sharp analytical thinking and strategic influence. This position involves managing and expanding relationships within the Wastewater, Stormwater, and Hazardous Substances management industries. You will be instrumental in partnering with Architects, Engineers, Specifiers, and Consultants to drive unique project specifications and unlock new business potential.

Key Responsibilities

This role is designed for a strategic operator who can navigate complex project lifecycles and model professional excellence:

  • Strategic Execution: Collaborate with the sales team to develop and execute a robust, data-driven specification strategy.
  • Project Pipeline Generation: Proactively identify and pursue new projects requiring the specification of APD’s diverse product portfolio.
  • Network Orchestration: Cultivate a high-level network of key contacts (engineers, architects, consultants) to maximize market share and profitability.
  • Market & Regulatory Intelligence: Gather comprehensive market intelligence across New Zealand and maintain critical relationships with local and regional regulatory authorities.
  • Strategy Implementation: Formulate and implement focused client strategies for key specification customers to strengthen APD’s market presence.

What You Will Bring

We are looking for a role model salesperson who possesses both the technical aptitude and the logical reasoning to solve complex challenges:

  • Proven Sales Expertise: A successful track record (5+ years) working with specifiers, ideally within the construction or water industries.
  • Critical Reasoning & Innovation: A capacity for innovative, solution-focused thinking and the ability to think outside the square when faced with technical hurdles.
  • Executive Presence: Strong communication skills with the persistence and professionalism required to establish successful executive-level relationships.
  • Analytical Approach: The ability to maintain a structured call cycle while remaining agile enough to change direction based on project data.
  • Technical Proficiency: Proficiency in CRM systems is essential. A tertiary qualification in a technical discipline or knowledge of NZ stormwater/wastewater regulations is a distinct advantage.
