What you’ll be doing: a day in the life of a high-impact sales professional

As an account manager at APD, your primary focus will be on proactively driving sales and expanding our market presence. You’ll be on the road daily, engaging directly with our diverse range of trade customers on their sites. Your mission will be to:

  • Promote APD’s unique stormwater and wastewater management solutions, educating customers on our comprehensive capabilities that set us apart in the Auckland market.
  • Identify and actively pursue new sales opportunities within your existing customer portfolio, focusing on upselling, cross-selling, and expanding our footprint.
  • Proactively seek out and secure new business, bringing in new clients and driving fresh revenue streams.
  • Become a trusted advisor and go-to sales expert for our customers, ensuring APD is their first choice.
  • Close deals and consistently achieve your individual and team sales targets.

Your key sales-driven responsibilities:

  • Cultivate and strategically grow strong, profitable relationships within your existing client portfolio, identifying and converting every opportunity for expansion.
  • Actively prospect and identify new business leads, developing strategies to onboard new clients and markets.
  • Develop and execute strategic sales plans with a clear focus on achieving and exceeding ambitious revenue targets.
  • Proactively identify opportunities for upselling and cross-selling our full range of products and services, maximizing customer value and APD’s market share.
  • Negotiate and close sales deals with confidence and precision.
  • Actively participate in relevant industry events, conferences, and networking opportunities to generate leads and enhance APD’s market visibility.
  • Collaborate closely with internal stakeholders to ensure seamless customer solutions and support your sales efforts.
  • Monitor and accurately record all sales activities and performance using our CRM system (HubSpot), providing clear insights into your pipeline and results.
  • Provide regular updates and actionable insights on market trends, competitive activities, and opportunities for sales growth.

We’re looking for someone great to join our team!

To excel in this role, you’ll go beyond simply trying to ‘get the sale’ or using generic closing techniques. Instead, you’ll employ a well-thought out, customer centric approach to guide a deal to a successful conclusion.

You won’t just react to opportunities! You’ll have a clear plan for each prospect, often involving detailed research into the customer’s business and individual needs and challenges. You’ll be a master at anticipating objections and can prepare tailored responses.

Digging deep to understand the customers underlying motivations, pain points and strategic objectives, you’ll be able to position our offering as a solution that directly addresses their specific problems and helps customers achieve their goals.

Navigating complexity, you’re adept at handling complex sales cycles which often involve multiple decision-makers, varied priorities and potential internal resistance. You know how to map out the power dynamics and can influence to build consensus.

You demonstrate patience, persistence, and the ability to maintain engagement over extended periods, continuously providing value and nurturing the relationship.
